Direct Support Professional Immediate Need Flexible Schedule Available!
North Star Community Services, an established provider of services for adults with disabilities with 50 years of providing services in the Cedar Valley, is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to assist in supported community living clients.
- Supporting Daily Living: Assisting with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Community Integration: Encouraging client engagement in social networks and community activities, including transportation to appointments and outings.
- Skill Building: Teaching home management skills, budgeting, and fostering self-help attitudes and decision-making abilities.
- Health Oversight: Assisting with simple health care routines, including medication reminders and monitoring overall well-being.
- Documentation: Ensuring all required documentation regarding client goals, behavior, and health is complete and compliant with regulations.
We are seeking persons who can work a flexible schedule:
Shifts Available
Part Time (24 hours per week)
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 9a-1p and 4p-8m
and alternating weekends Saturday and Sunday 9a-1p
Position Overview
As a DSP, you will provide direct care and support to clients. This role requires adaptability, reliability, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities
Assist clients with daily tasks and appointments
Plan and prepare meals with the help of the client
Serve as a pleasant and supportive companion
Report any unusual incidents
Perform light housekeeping tasks that clients are unable to complete on their own
In an emergency, act quickly and responsibly.
You will be working with persons to help them be independent in a home environment. You will play a key role in helping North Star Community Services empower each person to realize potential, pursue dreams, and enjoy life.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Reliable transportation and an acceptable driving record to be covered by an insurance provider
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Must pass background checks and complete required certifications
